Welcome back to review of yet another interesting book by Ken Follet. This is a book I brought right around the time I got married or after I got married in 2024. This book is part of the Kingsbridge series by Ken Follet.
The story is set around the time of war lead by Napoleon Bonaparte etc. It affected the livelihood of the people during the war in London and rest of the United Kingdom. Tighter policies and acts were brought place making people’s lives a misery.
The story start with death of Harry the father of Kit and wife of Sal. The story starts adversely of lives of two people who then move to Kingsbridge to lead a simple and happy life. But Sal herself becomes a revolutionary with her help of others in the amazing and thriving city such Spade, Amos and Elsie. Hornbeam is the villain who has the power over the lives of poor people in Kingsbridge.
The book also brings in different elements of French Revolution, war, battle of Waterloo, narrow minded view towards other genders such as gay, mistreatment toward poor and abuse of power and discrimination based on financial status etc.
